World Cup: Ecuador beat Chile, Argentina qualified

(ANSA-AFP) – SAN JUAN (ARGENTINA), NOV 17 – Argentina has validated its ticket for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar despite the 0-0 against Brazil already qualified, after the home defeat of Chile against Ecuador yesterday in the 14th day of qualification for the South American zone. With four days to go, Albiceleste is already sure to finish in one of the four qualifying places of the single group as they have 12 points clear of the two teams classified in fourth place that offers the last direct access for Qatar: currently Peru and Colombia. However, the latter will face each other on the next day and only one could hypothetically overcome Argentina. Albiceleste, world champion in 1978 and 1986, has always qualified for the finals of the World Cup except in 1970 in Mexico and did not participate in the events in 1938, 1950 and 1954. She was a finalist in 2014 , against Germany. It was beaten in the round of 16 by France, the future winner. (ANSA-AFP).
