GENEVA, SEPTEMBER 26 – The Swiss are today called to the polls to pronounce themselves on the introduction of the right to civil marriage also for homosexual couples. According to the latest polls, about 63% of voters are in favor of this change in the civil code. The text being voted also provides for access to sperm donation in Switzerland for married female couples. At the federal level, Swiss voters are also speaking today on the popular initiative “Relieve wages, tax capital fairly”. The text was launched by the Young Socialists to “fight against disparities in the distribution of wealth and income” and, according to polls, should be rejected by about 57% of those entitled to vote. The majority of the Swiss have already voted by correspondence and the polls will close at 12 noon. The first trends in voting results are expected in the early afternoon. (HANDLE).
