Spain: former vice president of the Catalan parliament arrested


MADRID, 27 OCT – The Catalan police have arrested the independence politician Josep Costa, former vice president of the regional parliament of Catalonia: La Vanguardia and other Iberian media report this, explaining that Costa is under investigation for disobedience and did not appear last September in court to make statements to the judge who is conducting the investigation. The news of the arrest was also confirmed by the current president of the Catalan Parliament, Laura BorrĂ s. Costa, who is part of Junts per Catalunya (the party of former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont) is accused of having allowed resolutions in favor of Catalonia’s self-determination and contestation of the Spanish monarchy not authorized by the Constitutional Court to be discussed in Parliament.
