Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will finally be presented on November 30th. This is the high-end processor that we will see on smartphones of 2022 that changes nomenclature for the first time.
If until a few weeks ago we told you about the imminent announcement of the new Snapdragon 898, today we confirm the launch of the next November 30th, but not the name. Qualcomm has indeed decided to remove at the root the “problem” that probably would have to face next year with the end of the 800 numbering by calling the new processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
With the next generations, Qualcomm will surely talk about generation 2 and so on while maintaining the name of the “8” series. This is a choice that we have already seen in the world of PC processors as, for example, Intel has always done.
However, the novelties concern much more elements of the brand. Indeed Qualcomm has decided to to separate the Snapdragon brand through which it will identify products designed for the smartphone and automotive world. The logo is also enriched with new colors, renewing itself and becoming even more current. For high-end products, the gold color will remain. The wording 5G is now considered by the company to be superfluous: it will no longer appear in the images for the press.
All these innovations will mainly concern aesthetic aspects for the advertising and nomenclature. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 should follow what are the news that we have already anticipated with the rumors on the 898. As time goes by and the ever-increasing demand for ARM products, we also expect Qualcomm to offer new lines of processors designed specifically for the products that will integrate them.
In each case, on November 30th, we will officially tell you what will be the new processor of the company designed for the mobile world. The hope is that the chip does not disappoint expectations considering that, over time, the competition is trying in every way to propose valid alternatives.
