MILAN, 25 OCT – BP and Piaggio have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development and implementation of a wide range of services to support the growing diffusion of two and three-wheeled electric vehicles in Europe and Asia. By combining the Piaggio Group’s expertise in the extensive production of electric vehicles and in the management of related infrastructures, with the experience and widespread international coverage of BP, the two companies intend to support the growing diffusion of two and three-wheel electric vehicles, contributing thus to the reduction of traffic and pollution in urban areas. The memorandum of understanding signed by the Piaggio Group, BP and its Indian subsidiary Jio-bp, provides for the definition of the contract and the signing of agreements once the opportunities for collaboration have been defined to offer charging stations and interchangeable batteries, as well as comprehensive services such as “Battery as a Service” (BaaS), which includes leasing, management and recycling of batteries, and “Vehicle as a Service” (VaaS), which includes leasing, repair, maintenance and intelligent energy management of vehicles. “The large, rapidly expanding market for two and three-wheeled vehicles opens the door to the shift to electric mobility and we see great potential for continued growth in both Asia and Europe,” said Richard Bartlett, senior vice president Future Mobility and Solutions of Bp. “The collaboration with bp will help us to realize our idea and offer to revolutionize mobility”, says Michele Colaninno, Chief of Strategy and Product of the Piaggio Group.
