Migrants: Darmanin cancels meeting with Minister GB

PARIS, 26 NOV – The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, canceled the meeting with his British colleague, Priti Patel, scheduled for Sunday in Calais to discuss the dossier on migrants, in response to Prime Minister Boris Johnson who asked in Paris to take back immigrants arriving in Great Britain. In a message to Patel, Darmanin argues that if the British Prime Minister’s letter to French President Emmanuel Macron is a “disappointment”, the fact that he made it public “is even worse”. Yesterday, Johnson asked France to take back migrants arriving illegally in Britain to solve the immigration problem, hours after Paris announced the meeting scheduled for Sunday in Calais. The ministers responsible for immigration from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, as well as the European Commission, were invited to the meeting. “We consider the British Prime Minister’s public letter inadmissible and contrary to our discussions between the counterparties. As a result, Priti Patel is no longer invited to the inter-ministerial meeting on Sunday which is maintained in the format: France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany-European Commission ”, reports the entourage of Gérald Darmanin.
