Libya: Maitig runs for presidential elections


CAIRO, 17 NOV – The former Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Maitig presented his candidacy in the presidential elections in Libya that could take place on 24 December: this was reported by a tweet from the Al Arabiya broadcaster. Maitig, former vice-president of the past Presidential Council of the Government of National Agreement of the then Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, therefore enters the battle against General Khalifa Haftar and Saif al-Islam, the second son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
