Huawei today announced a range of new products based on the new HarmonyOS 2 operating system in China.
In our daily life there are now many smart devices, but the user experience is sometimes not as intelligent. HarmonyOS is designed to solve this problem. How? Provides a common language so that different types of devices can connect and collaborate with each other, offering a more comfortable, fluid and secure user experience. HarmonyOS uses distributed technology to flexibly unpack system software and combine previously independent devices into a cohesive and holistic Super Device that leverages the capabilities of the individual products that are part of it based on user needs.
A completely new interactive experience
Multi-device interaction possible thanks to HarmonyOS 2 makes controlling multiple devices as simple as managing a single device. The new panel of multi-device control supports simple and intuitive connections through a drag and drop functionality that allows users to freely connect their desired devices based on specific scenarios.
For example, if you want to watch a movie at home late at night, just open the Control Panel and drag the smartscreen icon onto the phone icon, and the movie will jump directly from your phone to the TV. This is just one of the many possible smart scenarios that can be managed with the Super Device Experience.
The new HarmonyOS Multi-device Task Center allows apps to work on different devices without having to be installed individually on each of them: all functions and services will be available when and where needed without having duplicates. On any device that is part of a Super Device system, it is possible to view and manage the activities running on all other devices.
HarmonyOS Home is leaner and more organized than ever. Just swipe up on the apps for generate widgets of service that display information or services in real time and easy to access without having to open the app itself. You can customize the size of the widgets, touch the apps and swipe up to view the widgets or touch any free part on the home screen to hide them. In terms of look-and-feel, innovation and interaction are also expressed in the aesthetic details: character HarmonyOS Sans and animations provide a consistent user experience across all devices.
Also renewed Huawei HiLink
Huawei HiLink has been upgraded to HarmonyOS Connect to equip more non-Huawei devices with intelligent functionality. Smart home devices can be connected to the smartphone with a single touch: for example, simply place the smartphone against a Midea oven and select a recipe to instantly start preparing the chosen dish. Thanks to the interaction with Haier refrigerators, which automatically adjust the temperature according to the type of food, it is possible to keep dishes in the fridge for longer. Harmony Os is also able to interact with Joyoung soy milk machines which, by interfacing with the Huawei Health app, set recipes based on the health conditions of the user5. All these connected devices work together, transforming the kitchen into a personal trainer.
HarmonyOS 2 guarantees maximum performance
HarmonyOS has improved the smoothness of system operations by 42% compared to EMUI. For example, a smartphone with HarmonyOS is able to maintain read / write speeds similar to those of a newly purchased phone even after 36 months of use.
The operating system keeps apps open in the background so that tasks are always available exactly as they were when they left off. Furthermore, HarmonyOS allows for better optimization of battery life.
Huawei does not forget privacy and security
Huawei does not forget the privacy and security of users. HarmonyOS inherits the main privacy and security technologies present in EMUI and develops them further. The design principle followed for its realization is to ensure that only the correct person can access the data with their device, guaranteeing the security of each access to each device, as well as the security of each storage, transmission and use of data in all scenarios. When multi-device collaborative authentication is enabled, users can only unlock their phones with a combination of facial recognition on the smartphone and a special control that ensures that the watch the user is wearing is connected to the phone.
In addition, HarmonyOS manages user data by category and protects devices by level, setting specific security thresholds for Super Devices. Only devices that meet stringent security requirements can access data corresponding to their security level, ensuring users can use the multi-device collaboration capabilities with complete peace of mind.
When will HarmonyOS 2 arrive?
Over the next month, more than 100 models will receive the upgrade to HarmonyOS 2, including the Mate 40 series, Mate 30, P40, Mate X2 and the MatePad Pro series.
