Germany: Laschet does not rule out junior role in the SPD alliance

BERLIN, 12 SEPT – The German candidate for chancellor of the CDU-CSU Union, Armin Laschet, has not ruled out a role as a minor partner in a coalition led by the Social Democrats in the next government: “after the vote, the democratic parties must talk to each other”, said the leader of the CDU, answering a question during the “Triell”, the TV debate between the three candidates for the post Merkel, broadcast on Zdf and Ard. “We are fighting for the first place”, he later underlined. The green Annalena Baerbock, on the other hand, replied that she believes a real change can only be made under the guidance of ecologists, in the next government. (HANDLE).
