First image of a smartphone with Snapdragon 898 chip

An image has leaked on the net showing what appears to be the first smartphone with the new chip (not yet announced) Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 on board.

The smartphone is immortalized, albeit hidden in some places, with the Device Info HW app shown on the screen confirming the presence of the new flagship Snapdragon 898 chip. The main core, which should be based on the Cortex-X2, it runs at 3.0 GHz. The three Cortex-A710-based mid-cores are clocked at 2.5 GHz and finally the power-saving four Cortex-A510 cores run at 1.79 GHz.

This configuration should also be used by other flagship chips coming in 2022, including the Exynos 2200. The GPU will change instead. Unfortunately, we don’t know what kind of performance increase we can expect from theAdreno 730, but we expect numerous improvements over the Adreno 660 thanks to the new architecture based on Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process.

On the connectivity side, however, the chipset should be equipped with a X65 5G modem with a theoretical maximum downlink speed of 10 Gbps.

What will be the smartphone immortalized in the photo? Looking at the design of the front and given the different rumors, we can assume that it is the Xiaomi 12. The new top of the range of the Chinese company should make its debut by the end of the year.
