Fed: Powell has a rival, Brainard running for presidency

NEW YORK, 08 NOV – Fed governor Lael Brainard had an interview at the White House for the role of Fed president. Bloomberg reports quoting sources according to which Brainard was in the White House last week. The interview signals an acceleration in the choice for the Fed presidency. And indicates that Jerome Powell has a rival for the leadership of the central bank. Powell’s mandate expires in February and Joe Biden has not yet dissolved his reservations amidst the pressure of the progressive Democrats who are demanding a change of pace and the replacement of Powell, who in their opinion should not be reconfirmed at the helm of the Fed.
