Covid: Saxony, ‘act soon or risk of a new lockdown’

BERLIN, 05 NOV – “We don’t have much time, if we don’t act quickly we will get back to a lockdown like last year”. This is the alarm raised by the minister president of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, who urges a meeting between the state and the regions on pandemic measures. According to the governor of the CDU, it is a mistake to postpone, in light of the increase in contagion. In the eastern land, which last year experienced a dramatic health emergency linked to the pandemic, there are already 238 patients hospitalized in intensive care due to Covid. Kretschmer also pushes an extended appeal to a tightening of the German greenpass: extending the 2G (access to restaurants and bars only for vaccinated and cured people) “serves precisely to avoid a new lockdown,” he added speaking to a German radio.
