ROME, 14 SEP – “There is an Italy that cooperates, many organizations and associations, many young people, girls and boys who actively contribute to a system, that of cooperation, which manages to obtain extraordinary results: we need to make known the efforts of this ‘Italy”. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni at the inauguration of the #InsiemepergliSDG campaign in Prato, promoted by MAECI and other partners to raise public awareness on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the SDGs, and on the work of Cooperation Italiana and its partners. “This campaign – he added – is an important step in a broader communication strategy of the MAECI to bring the major issues of cooperation into the homes of Italians with the involvement of local authorities to reach the goal set by the United Nations with the 2030 Agenda. For this reason it is particularly important to develop collaborations and partnerships with local authorities, but also with universities, cultural bodies and civil society organizations, each of which is a key player in our development cooperation ”. “Taking action for the 2030 Agenda and its objectives – said Sereni – is even more important today, in light of Covid-19, the impact of which has increased inequalities, especially in some regions of the world, making it more difficult to pursue SDG and highlighted in particular the difficult condition of so many girls and boys. This is why collaboration with Save The Children is very important, to involve young people and to build a better, more equitable and sustainable world with them. And it is important – concluded the Deputy Minister – to do it with a city like Prato, which has always been one of the most multi-ethnic realities in Italy, from which a valuable contribution can come also thanks to the participation of the diasporas ”.
