Banks: Franco, EU proposal on balanced Basel 3

BRUSSELS, 09 NOV – Italy agrees as a whole with the European Commission’s proposal for the implementation “with the expected flexibility” of the final phase of the Basel 3 package on the new capital requirements for banks. This was reported by the Minister of Economy, Daniele Franco, during the public session of Ecofin, underlining that the Brussels proposal “wants to balance two objectives: to align the EU framework with Basel 3 standards, but also to avoid a significant increase in capital requirements “.
