Afghanistan: Johnson, evacuations even after 31 August

LONDON, AUG 26 – The efforts of the United Kingdom and others to evacuate people fleeing Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover of Kabul will not end at the deadline of August 31, already confirmed for the completion of the withdrawal of the residual presence of NATO soldiers engaged in rescue operations in the capital’s airport. This was reiterated by Boris Johnson on the sidelines of a visit to a military base on the outskirts of London whose personnel are involved in the airlift. For Johnson, “most” of the Afghans most in danger have now been relocated, but there are “people who will need help” even after the 31st. (ANSA).
